Lest ye think that social media in the Omaha cycling community is not effective, I give you Exhibit A:
Poor Ben.
You may recall the trials and tribulations of Ben Brownlow, the mild mannered, good humored, all around good guy that got assaulted by an angry driver last year while riding near 50th & Leavenworth. Well, it seems the bad luck continues...
Ben happens to be the only other cyclist in town that rides a Kona Ute. You may be thinking, "Hmm. Didn't I just get an email/blog update/tweet/facebook/flyer/smoke signal about a Kona Ute getting stolen?" You would be right.
Today, Ben was again minding his own business riding to work when he noticed a couple of cyclists following close behind and not passing. Eventually they took a photo of him and started questioning him about his bike. It sounds like things got a little awkward, and Ben had to take off to finish his ride to work at the Bike Rack where he is a mechanic.
I'm equally happy and sad about this ... very happy that people are getting the message and looking out for Kurt's stolen bike ... but sad that Ben had to be accused of harboring stolen property!
As mentioned before, Ben is a pretty easy going guy, so he's taking it in stride. However, on behalf of Omaha Bikes, I feel compelled to declare Friday as"Be Nice to Ben Day!" It's not his fault that he's riding the wrong bike at the wrong time. :)

This reminded me of one of those made-for-TV movies about a guy who was unjustly accused of a crime he did not commit. Fortunately it all worked out before Ben was forced to live life as a fugitive.
