Fact Checking Portland

Mostly True

Thanks to Steve, a recent Omaha transplant from Portland (Yes - people apparently do move FROM Portland TO Omaha!?  Who knew??), for sending this link.  Portland peeps frequently cite this data (or something similar - I've also seen it compared to the cost of a freeway interchange), and it stands up!

Portland Mayor Sam Adams says Portland’s spent on its bike infrastructure what it would normally spend on a single mile of highway.

True or False?  http://www.politifact.com/oregon/statements/2011/mar/19/sam-adams/portland-mayor-sam-adams-says-portlands-spent-its-/

And yet motorists claim bicycle infrastructure is too expensive all while crying for more roads and freeways. I saw this exact claim in a street film video a few months back, really was an eye opener.
