Eventually, the plan is to have the bike trail connect Lincoln and Omaha. The Papio-Missouri River NRD is working on completing the trail north of the Platte River.
Both NRDs have stated plans for construction on the final segments in 2010, but both NRDs noted that funding and other factors might delay completion.

The Journal Star also had a nice write up last month on the MoPac Extension along with information about the petition started by Activate Omaha to allow people who are in favor of the trail to voice their opinions.
