SEEKING TEAM CAPTAINS
Thanks for taking the time to learn more about the Bike Omaha Challenge. This project has taken on a life of its own and continues to make a difference in the lives of thousands of employees throughout the metro. Please join us for an informational meeting on Tuesday, April 21 where you can learn how to be a team captain for your company.
ABOUT THE CHALLENGE
Since 2006, Activate Omaha in collaboration with WELCOM have organized the Bike Omaha Challenge. In this time the Challenge has promoted healthy lifestyle choices, enhanced company wellness initiatives, and created excitement and awareness about the health and environmental benefits of riding bicycles. In 2009 the Challenge begins during National Bike to Work Week and ends in conjunction to the Omaha Corporate Cycling Challenge.
Participating companies are provided support to encourage employees to ride bicycles to work as a practical and healthy transportation choice.
HOW THE CHALLENGE WORKS?
Employees from participating companies are asked to ride their bicycle to work as much as possible from May to August. They log their days ridden and the miles for each trip and submit reports which include either to team captains or online for the Challenge to tally. The Challenge culminates with a celebration where awards are given in several categories. The joys of personal and organizational achievement help the Challenge foster a positive spirit throughout the business community.
The challenge offers Bicycle Commuter Safety Training Workshops in April & May for interested companies. Throughout the Challenge, participants receive bi-weekly Challenge news, cycling tips, updates, and ideas to motivate employees.
Any metro area company can qualify, with several divisions for companies of all shapes and sizes. Any employee able to ride a bicycle can participate in the Challenge, both avid cyclists and first-time riders are all welcome. For many employees, the Challenge is an easy introduction to cycling.
LEARN MORE AT THE INFORMATIONAL MEETING
Please become one of the many area companies that ask employees to ride bicycles as a practical and healthy transportation choice. Companies choosing to participate, will be provided support from Challenge organizers to help employees ride bikes to work. Please RSVP for this free informational meeting to info@activateomaha.org.

I'm looking forward to this. I got in on the challenge about halfway through last year. It'll be fun to get in at day one this time.
How was the organizational meeting?

We're pointing everyone to this blog for the latest and greatest bike commuting info, so keep up the great work! Julie
