City of Omaha Bicycle/Pedestrian Count!

Omaha's first official bicycle/pedestrian count is quickly approaching, and we need some more volunteers. Having good information on where people are riding bikes in our city is essential in figuring out the best places to install more bike facilities such as bike lanes, sharrows (like on Burt by Creighton), or those "bikes may use full lane" signs. If you want to see more of these types of facilities, please consider helping out. The counts will occur at the following times:

Count Times

· Saturday, July 9th from 12 PM to 2 PM

· Tuesday, July 12th from 4 PM to 6 PM

· Thursday, July 14th from 7 AM to 9 AM

· Thursday, July 14th from 4 PM to 6 PM

Volunteers can work just one, two, three, or all four shifts depending on availability and will need to attend a short training session at one of the following times:

Training Sessions (at the Omaha-Douglas Civic Center 1819 Farnam Street)

· Wednesday, July 6th from 12:15 PM to 1:00 PM

· Friday, July 8th from 4:30 PM to 5:15 PM

We will need to count at quite a few locations to get worthwhile information, so we will need a large number of volunteers. If for any reason you cannot attend one of the training sessions but would still like to help, we will gladly make special arrangements for you. To volunteer, contact David Nelson at dmnelson@rutgers.edu or 402.699.6170, or Stephen Osberg at stephenosberg@gmail.com or 308.440.8378.
